A clean, calm kitchen with Koala Eco
 •

If you’ve been sitting on the fence about switching to natural cleaning products, look no further than Koala Eco.

This Australian born, family run, purpose led brand makes safe, powerful, plant-based products for a clean home, body and mind. But that’s not all. This brilliant brand is also shouting from the rooftops the significant mental and physical health benefits of spending time in and caring for nature.

Co-founder Jessica takes us on the journey of the brand and tells us how the company is practising what it preaches.

“My connection to nature started in my childhood in Boston and New Hampshire, horse-riding, skiing and being outdoors constantly with my brother and sister. My Grandmother was a huge influence, taking us on long hikes through the forests and pointing out flora and fauna along the way.

“I met my husband in New York and after settling in Australia and starting a family we were constantly on the hunt for safe, toxic-free cleaning products that would actually work AND make our home smell fabulous - naturally.”

Unable to find products that were both efficacious and non-toxic, Jessica and her husband Paul decided to make the products they had been searching for, and Koala Eco was born.

“Our brand stands for ethical, sustainable purpose and we make our products in an ethical, sustainable way. We support causes that align with our brand purpose with a percentage of each product sold donated to One Per Cent for the Planet.  We also support People and Parks #NaturePact – encouraging people through businesses, schools and organisations to commit to spending intentional time in nature daily for a month. Recently, we became a sponsor of the Oceanic Society’s Critter Scholar’s Program, helping disadvantaged youth get up close with nature experiences.”

Jessica spends most of her days in the office working through strategy, branding and distribution. New product development leads to PR campaign shoots and not a day passes when Jessica isn’t in contact with her twin sister Adrienne, who is looking after the business operations in the United States where the brand is rapidly expanding.

‘Ecopsychology’ plays a big role in the Koala Eco brand and product development.

“We spend a lot of time making sure our products and messaging tell the same story. We believe the immersion in the sights, smells and sounds of nature to be a deeply spiritual and enriching experience and we passionately believe in the capacity of nature to have a positive impact on people’s daily lives and wellbeing.”

An Hour in Nature is a weekly priority for the whole organisation and Jessica chooses to spend this time with her children whenever possible, instilling in them the love of nature as her Grandmother did for her.

“It can be anything from exploring a local botanical garden, or just paying attention to the bees in our backyard while we sit barefoot on the grass.”
