Little Milko

Little Milko

We were considering keeping them a secret, however given we are in the business of celebrating local talent, it is with excitement that we introduce you to Amanda and Alicia, the creative duo behind Little Milko

Little Milko now have a beautiful range of products which are practical, super trendy and designed and made in Melbourne by co-founders Amanda Connors and Alicia Bennati. We are very fortunate to have discovered Little Milko, as their products are now featured in many of our beautiful 'Baby Bindles'.

A few questions for the creative duo ...

As we are in the business of celebrating Australian talent, what is your favourite place to visit in Australia?
Amanda:
I’ve just come back from two weeks on the Sunshine Coast, it’s definitely my favourite place to visit. Coming from Melbourne, it’s always such a relief to escape to the warmer weather.

Alicia: I've always loved Melbourne. I was lucky enough to relocate from Brisbane a couple of years ago, and now I get to call this amazing place home. There is so much to see and do, and at times i still feel like a tourist in my own backyard.

A little closer to home, what is your favourite coffee haunt?
Amanda: I recently moved down to the Mornington Peninsula and was very happy to discover Common Folk in Mornington. It’s got a very cool vibe, and the coffee and food are amazing!

Alicia: Olio Cucina. It's tucked down a laneway in the city and the vibe and coffee is amazing. They have black and white movies playing on the wall, and you will always here the barista serenading people in italian.

What are you currently reading?
Amanda: I’ve just read the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (again).

Alicia: The Book Thief - Markus Zusak

What 4 words best describe your product?

'Stylish, Functional, Giftable, Quality'

Where do you see your business going in the next 5 years?
Amanda: Currently myself and Alicia make all of our products by hand.  We hope to be able to grow the business to the point that we need lots more hands to make our products.

Alicia: Expanding our distribution channels. I would love to see our products available throughout Australia and expanding overseas.

Who has influenced you most in your life?
Amanda: My mum.  She is such a strong and kind hearted woman and has always been such an amazing support to me.

Alicia: My parents. I can honesty say they are the strongest people I know. I grew up working in the family business, and they are responsible for my strong work ethic and drive to succeed in business now.

What is your philosophy towards your work and life?
Amanda: After having my daughter almost two years ago I had the opportunity to escape the corporate world and try my hand at running a small business - it’s important for me to be around for my family, but it’s definitely a juggle.

Alicia: Balance. I think it's important to have that healthy balance, and not let your work consume you. ( If I ever find that balance I'll let you know.)

As we are in the gift giving business, what was the most recent gift you gave someone?
Amanda: I just gave my mum tickets to Matilda the Musical –she has to take me with her of course!

Alicia: I just bought my dad tickets to see the monster trucks.

Which Bindle would you pick for yourself?
Amanda: High tea, definitely.  Nothing better than a nice cup of tea and a sweet treat.

Alicia: The Works - it has all bases covered.

Favourite fictional character?
Amanda: Bridget Jones (a little tragic but I do love a good rom com!)

Alicia: Harry Potter
